One of the interesting things about this award is that you get two nominees by popular vote, and three by an award jury. So you end up with King and Martin competing with novels that haven’t gotten much attention. This is the first I’ve heard of Christopher Buehlman, and there are one or two in each of the other categories that I wasn’t aware of until now…
