So this. Huh. Well, what do you think? I’m still trying to process this.

Excellent! Kirkisms, McCoyisms, wild transporter rides, huge special effects….oh, and I’m siure there’s a story there somewhere, but I’m really not worried about that B-) 50 years on, the story continues….

It looks like it might be fun, but I wish science fiction movies weren’t always about action. I’d like a nice cerebral Star Trek story.

@Jim Did you see Interstellar? I thought that one (and Nolan’s other scifi, Inception) was a great balance of excitement and cerebralalitiness.

I like the idea of doing a planet-based story, but I’ve pretty much lost patience with noisy overstimulating action movies, and to me action isn’t what Trek is about in any case. A couple of those clips made it look like Kirk has superpowers now; maybe it’s the magic blood from the last film…?

If you want a cerebral sci-fi flick, check out The Man from Earth, a 2007 movie written by Jerome Bixby. Not much action but completely amazing.

As for this trailer, it looks like this could be fun. I hope these aren’t the only good parts. Lol.

Trailer looked ok, i dont know what all the negative reviews are about (from other sites, they seem to hate it). Its a 1 1/2 minute action packed teaser with a cool beasty boys sound track. I dont expect the movie to be mind expanding (bad english translation, sry) of give me a interesting interpretation of a future. I expect a nice ride with space ships and popcorn. Maybe the new Star Trek tv series can explore some interesting concepts.

I loved the Man from Earth, its one of my favorites. Predestination is a another film with a really interesting scenario.
