The 2009 Philip K. Dick Award Winner has been announced!

It was announced on Friday, April 2, at Norwescon 33, in SeaTac, Washington, that the winner for the distinguished original science fiction paperback published for the first time during 2009 in the U.S.A. is:
Bitter Angels by C. L. Anderson (Ballantine Books Spectra)
Special citation was given to:
Cyberabad Days by Ian McDonald (Pyr)

You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover… but it doesn’t hurt to have a heavily armed woman from the future in a body suit to make you read the back cover. Nice. The PKD doesn’t hurt too.
Sex sells even/especially with SF/F books. Just look around at the bookstore and you’ll find a dozen books with the classic/cliche hot chick looking back over her shoulder cover art. It seems you can’t be a heroine without tight leather pants and a lower back tat. Not that I’m complaining mind you.
