I wholeheartedly agree with the award for I Am Legend, which sadly has not been represented well at all in its film adaptations. It’s a great meditation on being alone and the last man on earth as well as being a great vampire novel. Klinger is a neat Dracula scholar as well. He has an annotated version of the book that treats it as though it was a real historical document. All of the inaccuracies or oversights in the text are treated as some kind of lie or misrepresentation or deliberate omission by the characters (since the book is a collection of their journals, diaries, etc.). Definitely worth reading, as is I Am Legend!
